52nd GMA Dove Awards – How it Went
This year’s hosts were Jonathan McReynolds and Amy Grant. While the latter hosted the show in 2007, this was McReynolds’ first-ever hosting experience. He wasn’t the only debutant on the night as many others got nominations for the first time.
Every artist nominated for “Artist of the Year” performed that evening. This was the first time such was happening at the Dove Awards.
Jack Patillo, the President and Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association wasn’t left out. He received his surprise during the ceremony launch. Patillo has been the President of the organization for ten years. GMA honored him with the maiden “Distinguished Leadership Award.” According to the GMA, this award will be named after Patillo in the future.
In response, Patillo said, “I am speechless, And so honored and so grateful. This is a calling, y’all. This is a mission. This is not a job. Even though some days are hard. But I love you. And I’m grateful. And I believe in unity in Christ. I believe we can celebrate our diversity in ways that will show the world that they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
I believe in the power of God through the Word and the message in your songs. So thank you. I’m so grateful and I’m awestruck over this.”
Here’s our hearty congratulations to all the winners. Don’t forget to check out ChurchPad for featured to make your church administration processes easier and better.
